Creating a file from a template

Kronodoc can be configured by a system administrator with folders that contain templates for creating standard types of files. You can attach files created from these templates to documents rather than upload files created on your computer. You can use templates to create new documents or to add files to existing documents.

To create a file from a template:

  1. Depending on whether you are creating a file for a new document or an existing document, run the From template command as described in Creating documents or Add files from template command as described in Adding files to documents. A template browser window appears.
  2. Browse to and select a template from which to create the new file. The window closes and the parent document property page appears showing a copy of the selected template file attached.

Note     The document name will be used for the new file name. It is possible for the system to be configured so that only template file names that match the document name are used as the file name and unmatched template file names are used as the new file name. For more information about this configuration, consult a system administrator.

  1. If you are creating a file for a new document, select or type values using the descriptions in Viewing and editing document properties.

Note     The values of the following document properties can be preset by the template configuration and are not editable until after the document has been saved:

  1. Click Save. The document's complete property page reappears. You may now use any of the commands on the document that are described in Using document commands.
